We are actively seeking a Mechanic to perform mechanical repairs to vessels and maintenance of machinery at our Verreault shipyard.

YOUR TYPICAL DAY

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will have to:

• Assemble, repair and maintain various types of engines, mechanical components and propulsion systems;
• Install and maintain rigid, flexible, centrifugal and hydraulic couplings;
• Perform basic machining and drilling and erect scaffold structures;
• Calculate the equivalence between the English and metric systems;
• Determine tool and equipment requirements according to work to be done;
• Position chain hoists and lifting eyes for safe lifting;
• Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

OUR IDEAL COLLEAGUE

• Diploma of vocational studies in mechanics or equivalent experience;
• Ability to work in confined space, at height or outdoors;
• Ability to read and interpret plans;
• Resourceful and versatile;
• Team player;
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and the principles of ball and roller bearings, both free and fixed;
• Knowledge of the basics of welding, flame cutting and steel pointing.
