NEW, USEFUL AND ECO-FRIENDLY EQUIPMENT
The new “waterblast” high-pressure water jet robot was used for the first time in the floating dry dock for stripping the hull of the tug OCEAN RAYNALD T. This equipment, which is on the cutting edge of technology, is distinguished by its great utility and also by its environmental aspect. In fact, the water used for sanding is recovered, filtered and then reused. No residue is left on the floor of the operation site.
In addition to the many environmental benefits of this equipment, this investment also improves several occupational health and safety issues. Its use requires only one operator to operate it remotely. The stripping operations are no longer dangerous and physically difficult for the workers! The high noise level and dust from “traditional sanding” are also a thing of the past for workers and surrounding communities!
This equipment allows notable productivity gains. The automation of tasks using “waterblast” high-pressure water blasting robots is much faster than manual dry sandblasting, which results in time savings at the shipyard. The use of this equipment also minimizes manual work and reduces human resource mobilization to a single operator.
Ocean Group is now one of the world-class shipyards that use this type of equipment. This great acquisition allows us to position ourselves once again as an environmentally conscious company and a leader in the Canadian marine industry.
