ASSISTING THE M/V LOUIS-JOLLIET
A safe evacuation
Québec, 2013 – The cruise ship M/V Louis-Jolliet touches the bottom of the St. Lawrence river at low tide and runs aground near the western point of Ile d’Orléans due to pilot error. In all, 57 people are aboard, including the crew.
Océan Remorquage Québec is called to the scene to evacuate the passengers. Two pilot boats facilitate the navigation using the ship’s rope ladders. The passengers are then transferred onto the deck of the tug OCEAN BERTRAND JEANSONNE using a gangway. Everyone returns safely to shore within a few hours.
